I got into real estate because I watched it matter in a way I did not expect. Growing up, my family owned residential properties they rented to people. When an accident changed our financial situation, those properties were what gave us options at a point when we did not have many. They created room to breathe and time to make better decisions, at a moment when that time was not guaranteed. Owning property changed what was available to us when we needed it most. That is not a small thing, and it is part of why I take the decisions I work through with clients as seriously as I do.
I convocated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked at Nutrien's Vanscoy operation, but I chose to build my career in real estate. That engineering background still shapes how I think about decisions: lay out the full picture, identify what actually matters, consider the risks, then move. Growing up watching my family navigate a hard situation reinforced that. When the stakes are real, you do not want someone who skips steps or tells you what you want to hear. You want someone who has looked at all of it. That is how I help my clients.
How I work with people
I try to make the process clear. That sounds basic, but a lot of people finish a real estate transaction feeling like things just happened to them. I do not think that is how it should go.
At each stage you will know what is happening, what your options are, and what I actually think. If a price seems off, I will say so. If a different neighbourhood fits your situation better than the one you have been focused on, I will bring that up. If the timing does not make sense for where you are at, I will tell you that too. The goal is for you to make a decision you understand, not one you feel pushed into.
Most of the people I work with are buying or selling in Saskatoon. Families who have outgrown their space. People whose kids have moved out and are ready to right-size. Buyers coming from out of province who want to understand the city before they commit to a neighbourhood. First-time buyers figuring out what they can actually afford and where to start. There is no single type. What most of them have in common is that the decision matters, and they want someone who treats it that way.
Why Saskatoon
Saskatoon is where I live and work. I know the neighbourhoods well, not just the names and price points, but how they actually feel to live in. Which areas tend to suit families with younger kids and which ones work better for people who want walkability. Where the commute starts to add up and where it does not. What kind of buyers tend to land in a given area and why.
That local knowledge matters when you are trying to figure out where to buy. There is a lot of general information out there, but most of it is not specific enough to help you choose between two neighbourhoods at a similar price point, or understand which one is likely to be a better fit five years from now.
I built most of the neighbourhood guides on this site myself. They are not marketing material. They are meant to be honest, practical summaries of what each area is actually like, who it tends to suit and who it probably does not. If you find them useful, that is the point.
